Delicious Sausage and Egg Breakfast Casserole

- 1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 cups day-old bread cubes (like sourdough or French bread)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: 1/2 cup diced onions, 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers, or 1 cup spinach
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbly. Drain and set aside.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread the bread cubes evenly on the bottom.
- Top with the cooked sausage and shredded cheese.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread mixture in the dish. Press down gently with a spatula.
- Let it sit for at least 15 minutes, or cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
