  • Author: Jannet Lisa
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 3 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Rose Tteokbokki is a creamy and spicy Korean street food. It features chewy rice cakes in a rich rosé sauce made with gochujang and cream, topped with melted mozzarella cheese. This dish offers a milder, richer twist on traditional tteokbokki, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 serving Rice Cake
  • 16 Mini Cocktail Sausages
  • 3 clove Garlic, minced
  • ½ Onion, chopped
  • ⅓ cup Gochujang
  • 1 tbsp Gochugaru
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • ½ cup Cream
  • 3 stalk Green Onion, sliced
  • 2 cup Water
  • 1 cup Mozzarella, grated

Instructions

  1. Score the cocktail sausages in a cross pattern.
  2. Cut the onion into large chunks and slice the green onion into 3 cm pieces.
  3. If using dry potato noodles, soak them in warm water for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  5. Add the minced garlic and onion chunks, sautéing for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Pour in 2 cups of water, then add the rice cakes, potato noodles, gochujang, gochugaru, sugar, and soy sauce.
  7. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cook for 8–10 minutes, or until the rice cakes and noodles are soft and the sauce thickens.
  8. Add the scored cocktail sausages and cook for 2–3 more minutes.
  9. Pour in the cream and add the sliced green onion. Stir and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  10. Turn off the heat, sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously on top, cover, and let the cheese melt for 1–2 minutes.
  11. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use fresh or vacuum-sealed rice cakes. Avoid frozen ones as they may crack.
  • Fish cakes are optional but recommended for added texture and flavor.
  • Scoring sausages helps them absorb more sauce.
  • Adjust gochugaru based on your spice preference.
