- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk (or more, as needed)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and salt.
- In a separate, large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and brown sugar.
- Add the applesauce, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture. Beat until well combined.
- Add the pumpkin puree to the wet ingredients and mix until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Let the batter rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan thoroughly.
- Transfer the donut batter to a piping bag and pipe into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the donuts in the pan for a few minutes, then invert them onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed.
- Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the glaze.
- Immediately sprinkle with desired toppings.
- Place the glazed donuts back on the wire rack and let the glaze set for 15-20 minutes before serving.
