Delicious Orange Truffles: 7 Steps to Citrus Bliss

  • Author: Jannet Lisa
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 30 truffles 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Easy Orange Truffles blend refreshing citrus with creamy indulgence, perfect for gatherings and a fun project with kids.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 36 pieces Golden Sandwich Cookies (Or substitute with Golden Oreos or vanilla wafers)
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (Softened)
  • 1 tsp Orange Extract (Can increase for more flavor)
  • 1 zest Orange (Opt for organic)
  • 1 drop Orange Gel Food Coloring (Optional for color)
  • 12 oz White Chocolate Chips or Candy Melts (Can substitute with milk or dark chocolate)
  • Sprinkles
  • Orange Sanding Sugar
  • Additional Zest

Instructions

  1. Begin by placing the golden sandwich cookies in a food processor or a zip-top bag; crush them into fine crumbs, creating a sweet base, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cookie crumbs with softened cream cheese, orange extract, and orange zest. If desired, add a few drops of orange food coloring to enhance the visual appeal and mix until smooth.
  3. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a smooth ball between your hands. Place each ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet for easy cleanup.
  4. Pop the tray of truffles into the refrigerator for 30 minutes or the freezer for 15 minutes to firm them up, making the next steps easier and mess-free.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the white chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. This should take about 1-2 minutes total.
  6. Using a fork, dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off before placing it back on the lined tray.
  7. While the chocolate coating is still wet, sprinkle optional toppings like sprinkles or additional zest for that extra touch of flair. Set aside to let the chocolate cool and harden.
