Description

This Crispy Honey-Glazed Shrimp recipe offers a quick and impressive dish perfect for any occasion. Enjoy perfectly crisp shrimp coated in a sticky, sweet-savory honey glaze. It’s simple to make and can be served as an appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails on
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or neutral oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp completely dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper. Toss shrimp in cornstarch until evenly coated, shaking off excess.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp in a single layer for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Work in batches if necessary.
  3. Remove excess oil from the skillet, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Toss to coat in the glaze and cook for 1-2 more minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and cling to the shrimp.
  6. Remove from heat. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For best results, use large or extra-large shrimp (21/25 or 16/20 count per pound).
  • Ensure shrimp are patted completely dry before coating with cornstarch for maximum crispiness.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level.
  • This glaze also works well with other proteins like chicken or tofu.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in a skillet to maintain crispiness.
