- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1/3 cup hot pepper jelly
- Fresh thyme leaves or chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and butter. Beat until smooth and creamy.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese to the mixture and mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the flour, salt, and garlic powder (if using). Stir until the dough comes together.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop 1-inch balls from the chilled dough and roll them smooth in your hands. Place them on the baking sheet.
- Use your thumb or a teaspoon to gently press down in the center of each ball, forming a small well.
- Fill each indentation with ½ teaspoon of hot pepper jelly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 13-15 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
