Description
Aloo Tikki Chaat is a popular Indian street food featuring crispy potato patties topped with yogurt, chutneys, and other savory toppings. This version offers a healthier twist by sautéing instead of deep-frying, delivering delicious flavor and texture.
Ingredients
- For the Patties:
- 4 medium Russet Potatoes, boiled and grated
- 1 tsp Kala Jeera (Roasted Cumin)
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tsp Chat Masala
- 1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 1 tsp Amchur (Mango Powder)
- 2 Green Chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Fresh Cilantro, chopped
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 slice Whole Wheat Bread, made into fine crumbs
- 2 tbsp Avocado Oil
- For Toppings:
- 1 cup Yogurt
- 3 tbsp Date Tamarind Chutney
- 3 tbsp Cilantro Chutney
- 1/2 cup Red Onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup Sev
Instructions
- Boil russet potatoes until tender, then peel and grate them into a mixing bowl.
- Process a slice of whole wheat bread in a food processor to create fine crumbs.
- Combine the grated potatoes, breadcrumbs, roasted cumin, coriander powder, chat masala, Kashmiri red chili powder, garam masala, amchur powder, chopped green chilies, cilantro, and salt in the mixing bowl. Mix well.
- Shape the mixture into golf-sized rounds and flatten them gently into patties.
- Heat avocado oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat.
- Sauté the Aloo Tikki patties for 5-6 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove excess oil with a paper towel.
- Place the crispy Aloo Tikki patties on a serving plate.
- Top each patty with a dollop of yogurt, a drizzle of date tamarind chutney, cilantro chutney, and a sprinkle of chopped red onion and sev.
- Serve your Aloo Tikki Chaat immediately.
Notes
- Serve Aloo Tikki Chaat immediately after assembly to maintain the crispiness of the patties.
- Adjust the spice level of the chutneys according to your preference.
- For a healthier alternative to sev, consider using roasted chickpeas or nuts for added crunch.
- Uncooked Aloo Tikki patties can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one day.
- Assemble the chaat only when you are ready to serve.
